I was persistant on going to Oktoberfest but did not know the means.Luckily my friend found thi website “oktoberfissa” which organises a bus to and from Munich. It also has a camping option. Me and three other friends booked on the website and left to Munich by a double decker bus on Friday night. We arrived there on Saturday morning. It was really cold in Germany, about 6 deg and we waited for a friend who was hosting us at the metro station (Sban).
When we went to his place he was forcing us to get ready soon and leave , else we will not get a place to sit in the tent. Man, he was right. The crowd was breathtaking. We did not have place to move .Never have I seen so many people drinking beers at 11 in the morning.
The outside was set up like an amusement park with roller coaster and break dance rides (which is no advisable to take if you just came out of a tent).
There were German candy necklaces which people were supposed to wear on their beautiful Bavarian dresses.
Girls looked extremely pretty in those costumes and guys looked funny
There were 8 tents and each of it sold a brand of beer. Some tent owners have been selling their beer for 7 generations. Here you can see the interiors of the tents
Bratwurst , currywurst are the traditional germany bread which are Ribbon shaped with salt crystals on them. They were sold by the bartenders there. The bartenders themselves do not get paid but they get a tip of 30 cents per beer they sell and with that they earn for 3 months.
They only serve beer in liters .This reduces the work of the bartenders tremendously.
If you are lucky you might get a place to sit in one of the tents. Ten of us went in and could not find a place big enough. We had to split in groups of 4 then.
If there’s one song you are absolutely guaranteed to hear at the Oktoberfest it’s this one. That’s because that bands in each tent blurt it out every 20 minutes or so in an honest effort to help revellers get nice and lubricated.
And to remind them why they’re at the fest –the Gemütlichkeit!
” Ein Prosit”
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit
Ein Prosit, ein Prosit
Der Gemütlichkeit.
ONE! TWO! THREE! DRINK UP! 😀
We went the first day to experience the beer and the commotion. The next day again to click pictures of the tents. It was tremendous fun seeing people around in a cheerful mood partying with big beer pint glasses 😛
Other places to visit in Munich are
Concentration camp in Dachau. I went there and it turned my mood topsy turvy. Entered a real concentration camp with as chambers and wooden crematories. It was a depressing but it was a notable trip to Dachau .Definitely a good tourist location to visit on your trip t Munich
Some of my friends went to Olympic stadium in munich and found it really good
